ABOUT DAYAL BAGH:-

Shiv Dayal Sahib, who lived from 1818-1878 and was known as Soami Maharaj by his disciples, was the first of the Guru's or religious leaders of the Radhasoami sect. He is worshipped at this grand memorial that is a combination of temple, gurudwara, vihara and mosque. The Radhasoami memorial is 110 feet high, has impressive pillars and is made of pure white marble.

The prime attraction of the region is the memorial of Swamiji Maharaj. The structure is a blend of mosque, temple and gurudwara architecture. Built in white marble the construction of the lofty structure started on 1904 A.D. and is believed never to be ended. An institute named Radha Swami Institute also has been erected. Every year hundreds of devotes come to the place and pay homage to Swami Maharaj.

Dayal Bagh is famous for its textiles, Durri-works, leather goods and artistic small marble items or products. Now a day, this religious sect has got a division-having three branches Dayal Bagh, Swami Bagh and Hazuri Bhawan, (Pipal Mandi) branch, having all separate 'Gurus' as their religious heads. But some of their functions are common (like Bhandara of Radha Swami Maharaj), having common ideal logics of religion. The Dayalbagh Gardens would surely be an interesting place to visit for connoisseurs of art, who would love to watch the skilled artisans and marble cutters at work.
